Chelsea fans have finally had enough. And honestly, who can blame them. When you spend close to two billion pounds on players, cycle through managers like you're flipping channels, and still somehow end up watching a team that looks like it's been assembled by someone playing Football Manager for the first time, the patience was always going to run out eventually.
Todd Boehly and the BlueCo gang walked into Stamford Bridge with all the confidence of people who had just watched a YouTube video about football and decided they knew best. Roman Abramovich was ruthless but he had an eye for talent. This lot have an eye for a spreadsheet. There is a difference.
The manager merry-go-round alone tells you everything you need to know. Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter, Frank Lampard again for some reason, Mauricio Pochettino, Enzo Maresca now. That is not a football club with a plan. That is a football club having a very expensive panic attack in slow motion.
What makes this worse is the squad itself. They have genuinely talented players. Cole Palmer is a joy to watch. Enzo Fernandez on his day is quality. But there is no identity, no spine, no sense that anyone in that building knows what kind of football team they are trying to build. It is like watching someone try to assemble IKEA furniture without the instructions and with half the wrong parts.
The fan backlash was always coming. You can only ask supporters to be patient for so long before they look at the table, look at the wage bill, look at the squad depth, and ask the very reasonable question of what exactly is going on here. Chelsea fans are not soft. They have been spoiled, yes, but they know football. And right now what they are seeing does not add up.
BlueCo need to look at themselves seriously. Not just the manager, not just the recruitment, but the whole structure. Because right now Stamford Bridge is not a fortress. It is a very expensive building site with no architect.
