Early Life

Edward John Howe was born on 29 November 1977 in Amersham, Buckinghamshire. He grew up in Bournemouth after his family moved south, and joined the Bournemouth academy as a teenager. He went on to have a solid career as a right-back at Bournemouth, earning brief stints at Portsmouth and Swindon before returning to his beloved Cherries. A persistent knee injury forced him to retire at 29, but his connection to the club made his eventual return as manager feel inevitable.

Managerial Career

Howe was appointed Bournemouth's caretaker manager at just 31 and permanently shortly after. He took the club from League One to the Premier League across a remarkable decade of promotion — one of the greatest overachievements in English football.
