Biography
Early Life
Born in Madrid in 1998 to Moroccan parents, Hakimi grew up in the Getafe area. He joined Real Madrid's La Fábrica academy at age eight and worked his way through every youth level before breaking into the first team.
Breakthrough
Two loan seasons at Borussia Dortmund transformed him from a promising La Fábrica product into one of the most exciting right-backs in Europe. His pace, dribbling and goal threat were eye-catching in the Bundesliga. Inter Milan paid £40M. Then PSG paid £60M — a record for a full-back at the time.
Career
The most complete right-back of his generation. His performances for Morocco at the 2022 World Cup — where they reached a historic semi-final — were stunning. He combined defensive solidity with an attacking output that rivals many wingers. He is as much a midfielder-forward as a defender.
Personal Life
Married to Spanish actress Hiba Abouk, with whom he has two children. His relationship with his family in Getafe remains close. His decision to represent Morocco rather than Spain was pivotal for both nations.
Legacy
The player who changed how African football is perceived globally. His World Cup semi-final heroics made him a symbol of Moroccan and African ambition.
