Biography
Early Life
Born in Sertãozinho, São Paulo state in 1998, Militão came through São Paulo FC's youth system. He developed quickly and Porto signed him in 2018, recognising his potential before Real Madrid moved for him a year later.
Breakthrough
Real Madrid paid £50M in 2019. His first two seasons were uneven — hampered by injuries and competition from Raphael Varane. When Varane left for Manchester United in 2021, Militão took his chance. He became arguably the most consistent centre-back in Europe across 2021-23.
Career
A crucial part of Real Madrid's era of Champions League dominance. Two Champions League winner's medals. His recovery pace and composure on the ball are exceptional. He suffered an ACL injury in 2023 but returned to form.
Personal Life
Became a father before his 21st birthday. Known for his relaxed, cheerful personality in contrast to the high-pressure environment at Real Madrid. His recovery from ACL injury has been described by teammates as an inspiration.
Legacy
One of the best Brazilian defenders of his generation, Militão's combination of physicality and technical quality has made him a cornerstone of Real Madrid's defence.
