Early Life
Born in Mönchengladbach in 1992, ter Stegen is a lifelong Borussia Mönchengladbach fan who came through the club's youth system. He made his Bundesliga debut at 19 and quickly established himself as one of Germany's most exciting young goalkeepers.
Breakthrough
Barcelona paid £12M in 2014, initially in competition with Claudio Bravo. Ter Stegen was used primarily in cup and European competition, with Bravo taking the league games. It was not until Bravo left for Manchester City that ter Stegen became the undisputed first choice — and he has never looked back.
