Right so Friday's gossip has come in hot and there's a lot to unpack here. Let's start with the one that will genuinely have Manchester City fans shifting uncomfortably in their seats. Ruben Dias has apparently told his agents to start sniffing around for a move away from the Etihad. That is a massive deal. Not a maybe, not a whisper from a journalist's mate's cousin. His agents are actively exploring options. When a player does that, the writing is usually on the wall and everyone in the ground can see it except the chairman who's pretending to read the programme.
City are clearly in a bit of a strange moment right now. The squad is aging in key areas, the league form has been patchy compared to the Pep golden years, and if Dias genuinely wants out then someone in that dressing room knows something the rest of us don't. A fit and focused Ruben Dias is a top five centre back in the world on his day. Losing him would hurt City more than they'd ever admit publicly.
Then there's Barcelona looking at Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen. Solid left sided defender, good on the ball, plays with a bit of aggression. Very much the profile Barca have been chasing for a while now. Whether they can actually afford him is a completely different conversation because Barca's financial situation is basically a Jenga tower held together by prayer and creative accounting at this point. But they'll find a way, they always do, and then announce it with a dramatic video at two in the morning like it's a Marvel trailer.
Liverpool pushing for a quick deal for Yan Diomande is interesting too. Arne Slot clearly wants to get his business done early and not be scrambling around deadline day like everyone else. Smart. Very smart. That Liverpool project under Slot is quietly building something and the fact they want this sorted quickly tells you they're planning ahead rather than reacting.
