Barcelona have just spent £69 million on Anthony Gordon. Whether they can fund another massive deal while managing their financial situation remains to be seen.
Alvarez himself has reportedly made clear he will not sign a new contract at Atletico. When a player of that quality digs his heels in, clubs eventually tend to sell.
