Biography
Early Life
Born on August 6, 1997 in Parma, Italy, Marcus Thuram grew up with football in his blood. His father Lilian Thuram is one of France's greatest ever defenders — a World Cup and European Championship winner. Growing up in Italy before moving back to France, Marcus developed a different game to his father: attacking, powerful, unpredictable.
Breakthrough
After learning his trade at Guingamp and Nice in France, Thuram joined Borussia Mönchengladbach in Germany in 2019. He established himself as a consistent Bundesliga striker before Inter Milan signed him on a free transfer in 2023 — one of the great no-fee acquisitions in recent European football.
Career
At Inter, Thuram formed a devastating partnership with Lautaro Martínez. His directness, physical power and finishing made him an immediate hit in Serie A. He helped Inter win the Scudetto in 2023-24 and became a key figure for France at international tournaments.
Personal Life
The son of a football legend, Marcus has carved his own identity as a player and as a person. He is outspoken on social issues, following his father's tradition of speaking publicly on matters beyond football. His relationship with his father is clearly a source of both inspiration and healthy competition.
