Biography
Early Life
Born in Cayenne, French Guiana in 1995, Maignan moved to mainland France as a child and joined Paris Saint-Germain's academy. He progressed through the French youth system, winning youth World Cups, before Lille offered him the first-team opportunity his talent deserved.
Breakthrough
Four seasons at Lille, including winning Ligue 1 in 2021, made him impossible to ignore. When Gianluigi Donnarumma left AC Milan on a free transfer, Milan moved quickly to sign Maignan. It looked like a downgrade from a Ballon d'Or-level goalkeeper. Instead, Maignan showed he was arguably better.
Career
Won Serie A with Milan in 2022 in his first season โ the club's first title in 11 years. His athleticism and reflexes are extraordinary. He has become France's number one, ending Lloris's decade-long reign and establishing himself as one of the world's best in his own right.
