Biography
Early Life
Born on July 26, 2002 in Wolverhampton, Morgan Rogers came through Manchester City's academy — one of the best talent development systems in the world. City's academy produces technically polished players, but competition for first-team places at the Etihad is intense, and Rogers needed to leave to find regular football.
Breakthrough
After loan spells and a permanent move to Middlesbrough, Rogers' form in the Championship attracted Aston Villa's attention. Unai Emery paid around £15M in February 2024, and Rogers took to the Premier League with an ease that suggested he had been training for it his whole life. His technical quality, creativity and work rate made him an immediate hit at Villa Park.
Career
Rogers signed a contract extension with Villa until 2031 in November 2025 — a strong statement of commitment from both parties. But his form attracted enormous interest, with Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, PSG, Bayern Munich and Manchester City all monitoring him. Reports in 2026 suggested a deal worth around £80M could tempt Villa to sell. Thomas Tuchel placed him at the top of his England squad considerations.
Personal Life
Rogers is from Wolverhampton — a city with a genuine football identity — and despite coming through City's academy he retains a connection to the Midlands. He is quiet and professional in public, letting his football generate the headlines.
Legacy
From Man City's academy to a potential £80M England international. Rogers's rise is one of the Premier League's best stories of the mid-2020s.
