How does Theo Hernandez compare to other players?
Compare Players →Biography
Early Life
Born in Marseille in 1997, Theo is the younger brother of Lucas Hernandez. Both brothers came through Atletico Madrid's youth system. Theo was considered the more raw but more explosive of the two — pace and power, but with technical quality that took time to develop fully.
Breakthrough
Real Madrid signed him from Atletico in 2017 for £20M but he never established himself at the Bernabeu. A loan to Real Sociedad changed his trajectory. Then Milan signed him permanently and gave him the consistent first-team football he needed. He became Serie A's best left-back almost immediately.
Career
The 2021-22 Serie A title with Milan was the high point of his European career. Six years at the San Siro made him one of world football's best left-backs. In July 2025 he made the move to Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia, joining one of the world's most ambitious clubs.
Personal Life
The younger brother of Lucas Hernandez, both France internationals. Theo spent six years at Milan before heading to the Saudi Pro League. A new chapter in Riyadh after becoming a legend in Italy.
Legacy
The most attacking left-back in Serie A history since Maldini — and that is an enormous statement in Italian football. Now taking that quality to the Saudi Pro League.
