Arsenal going after Morgan Rogers makes complete sense and absolutely zero sense at the same time. He has been brilliant for Villa this season, proper brilliant, the kind of player who makes you go "where did he come from" even though everyone knew he was good. But Arsenal doing Arsenal things and going shopping at a rival's house while their own squad still has gaps that could swallow a small car. Classic.
The Rogers link is interesting though. He is 22, English, plays with his head up, can go past people. Arteta would love him. The question is whether Villa would sell to a direct top four rival which, spoiler alert, they absolutely should not. Imagine selling your best young player to the team fighting you for Champions League football. That would be like giving your enemy the instruction manual.
PSG rivalling Liverpool for Yan Diomande is one of those transfers where you just shrug and think yeah of course they are. PSG have apparently discovered money exists and are now throwing it at anything that moves. Liverpool will probably still get him because they have genuinely become one of the best run clubs in Europe again and players want to play for Slot's system. PSG are still PSG. Lovely stadium, great city, questionable project.
And then there is Jack Grealish. The man is apparently going to be given a chance to revive his City career which is a sentence nobody expected to be writing a few years ago. He cost 100 million pounds. One hundred million. He has had some good moments but the overall return has been nowhere near that fee and everyone knows it. Guardiola keeping faith is either loyalty or stubbornness and with Pep you never quite know which one it is. It is a bit Rocky really. Everyone has written him off but the corner man is still throwing the towel back in. Whether Grealish has got one more big round in him is the actual question.
City are struggling this season and Grealish finding form would genuinely help them. Whether that happens is another matter entirely.
