Arsenal are apparently getting serious about Bruno Guimaraes, with reports suggesting they are ready to put a formal offer together after exploratory talks with Newcastle over the Brazil midfielder. And if that wasn't enough to get Toon fans reaching for the antacids, it sounds like Sandro Tonali's name has also come up in those same conversations.
Now, it's worth saying upfront that Newcastle are not a club that needs to sell. They've got money, ambition, and a project that's genuinely exciting. But every club has a price, and if Arsenal come in with a number that makes Eddie Howe and the board raise an eyebrow, things could get interesting pretty quickly.
Guimaraes is the kind of midfielder that doesn't come along very often. He's aggressive when he needs to be, silky when the moment calls for it, and he genuinely seems to love playing football rather than just cashing a cheque. Arsenal fans will have watched him over the past couple of seasons and thought, yes, that's exactly what we're missing in the engine room. And they wouldn't be wrong. He'd walk into that Arsenal side.

From a Manchester United fan's perspective, and yes this hurts to type, Arsenal doing this kind of smart, ambitious transfer work is exactly why they keep threatening to win the league. Whether Newcastle actually let either of these lads go is another question entirely. Geography and loyalty only stretch so far when a very large bag of money lands on your doorstep though.
