Tottenham going back in for Savinho is the kind of transfer gossip that makes a Tuesday feel like it actually matters. Spurs have been crying out for a proper wide player who can beat a man and actually do something with it, and Savinho showed at City last season that he has that in him. Whether Spurs can get it done is another question entirely because their transfer business has the energy of someone who keeps adding things to their Amazon basket but never quite checks out.
Then there is the Mohamed Salah situation at Liverpool, which refuses to go away quietly. Yan Diomande topping their list of potential replacements is an interesting shout. The lad is talented, no doubt about it, but replacing Salah is like trying to replace Michael Corleone with someone who once watched The Godfather. Liverpool fans will tell you nobody is irreplaceable and then spend three years proving themselves wrong.
Barcelona wanting to make the Marcus Rashford loan permanent is peak modern Barcelona. Spend money you do not have on a player who has not been the same since 2021. Rashford has the ability, everyone knows that, but somewhere along the way he stopped running like his life depended on it and started running like he had somewhere better to be. If Barcelona want to make that permanent that is very much their business and also their problem.
Arsenal swooping for Julian Alvarez is the one that really gets the pulse going though. Alvarez is the real deal. Proper footballer, works hard, scores goals, makes the team better just by being on the pitch. If Arsenal actually land him then suddenly that front line looks genuinely frightening. The caveat, as always with Arsenal, is that they have to actually go and do it. They have been linked with half of Europe for years and still somehow managed to finish without the trophy. Again. Fingers crossed this one actually happens because Alvarez in that team would be something worth watching.
