Tottenham are apparently not messing about this summer. According to Sky Sports, Spurs are in active talks with Manchester City over a potential double swoop for winger Savinho and forward Omar Marmoush, and honestly, if they can pull this one off, it would be a serious statement of intent from north London.
Savinho only joined City last summer from Girona for around £34 million, so the fact that he could already be on the move tells you something about how things are shifting at the Etihad. He is a lively, direct winger with genuine pace and trickery, and at 21 years old he has bags of potential. He did not get a huge amount of consistent game time under Pep Guardiola, which probably explains why City might be open to letting him go. Spurs getting him would be a real coup.
Marmoush is the other half of this potential deal, and he is a slightly different story. The Egyptian forward joined City from Eintracht Frankfurt in January after an absolutely blistering first half of the season in the Bundesliga. He has looked a little lost since arriving in Manchester, which again is not entirely his fault given how City have struggled to find any real rhythm this year. He is a clever, hardworking forward who can play across the front line, and Spurs could genuinely get the best out of him with regular football.
For Tottenham this makes a lot of sense on paper. Ange Postecoglou needs more goals and more creative spark, and bringing in two attacking players with this kind of profile could give them real depth. The worry, as always with Spurs, is whether the club will actually follow through or whether this ends up being another transfer saga that fizzles out quietly in August.
From a Manchester City perspective, moving on players who are not getting minutes while raising funds to reinvest is smart business. It is not an admission of failure, just sensible squad management.
