Biography

Early Life

Erling Braut Haaland was born on July 21, 2000 in Leeds, England — his father Alfie Haaland was playing for Manchester City at the time. The family soon returned to Norway and Erling grew up in Bryne, a small town where sport was everything. He played handball, golf, and athletics before focusing on football.

Breakthrough

After cutting through the ranks at Molde under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Haaland moved to Red Bull Salzburg in 2019 and exploded onto the European stage. His hat-trick against Genk in his very first Champions League game announced someone extraordinary. Dortmund signed him in January 2020 for just £17M — one of the great bargains in football history.

Career

At Dortmund, Haaland was a force of nature — 86 goals in 89 games before Man City paid £51M to acquire him in 2022. His debut Premier League season was unlike anything the division had ever seen: 36 league goals, smashing the record set by Alan Shearer. He helped City to the treble and kept on scoring.

Personal Life

Haaland is a meditating, yoga-doing, strange-diet-following phenomenon who claims to wear blue-light glasses indoors to improve sleep. His father's career was cut short by Roy Keane's infamous foul in 2001, giving the Haaland family a particular Manchester United antagonism. Erling rarely mentions it publicly but lets his goals do the talking.

Legacy

At 25, Haaland already has over 220 career goals and is on pace to challenge every record in the book. The question is no longer whether he can score — it's whether anyone can stop him from rewriting history over the next decade.
