The Sunday gossip mill is doing what it does best, churning out transfer stories that range from highly plausible to absolutely wild, and this weekend's batch has got a fair bit to chew on.
Starting with Arsenal, because their fans never seem to get a quiet weekend, it looks like the Gunners could be in for a fight if they want to land Morgan Gibbs-White. The Nottingham Forest midfielder has been one of the more exciting players in the Premier League over the last couple of seasons, and it sounds like Paris St-Germain have now thrown their hat into the ring. PSG have essentially become a supermarket for top European talent since the big money era kicked in, so Arsenal will know better than anyone that having the French giants as rivals is not ideal. Gibbs-White would be a good signing for Mikel Arteta's side, he has energy, creativity and plenty of Premier League experience, but whether Forest would even entertain selling to a direct rival over a club abroad is another conversation entirely.
Over in Madrid, it seems the mystery player Real have been chasing is Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, the Georgian winger who has been absolutely lighting it up for Napoli. That one makes a lot of sense actually. He is exactly the kind of direct, exciting forward that Real Madrid fans adore, and after his performances in Serie A he has well and truly earned that level of interest.
The most eyebrow-raising story of the lot though is Jose Mourinho apparently being appointed as the new Real Madrid coach and already targeting Bernardo Silva. Now Mourinho going back to Real is a storyline nobody really saw coming, and Bernardo Silva at the Bernabeu is genuinely an interesting fit. The Portuguese connection is obvious, and Silva has been one of City's most consistent performers for years. Whether Pep lets him leave without a fight is another matter entirely.
Sunday gossip is always half fiction, but there is enough here to keep the transfer window conversations going nicely.
